Vale – Helen Jane McNaught

In 1987, Helen arrived from Sydney where she had played hockey for NSW and had been selected in the Australian team. After setting up her veterinary practice at Balhannah, Helen initially played for Mt Barker Hockey Club (now Adelaide Hills) but then joined the Adelaide Hockey Club where she became Captain/Coach of the Premier League team. Helen continued to play for AHC for many years.

Helen was a regular member of SA Veterans teams and Captained the South Australian over 45s when they won the National Championships in 1998.

Helen will be remembered as a fair and skillful player with a copybook hit. She enjoyed every game and her friends enjoyed her wicked sense of humour. Helen made a significant contribution to Adelaide Hockey Club and South Australian hockey.

Helen McNaught died on Tuesday 10 September, aged 65, and will be remembered at a memorial service to be held on Thursday 19th September 2pm at the Carr Memorial Chapel, Mount Barker.
