AHC Update

23 Mar 2020 by Finola Dwyer

Dear AHC Members

With the un-precedented situation we are all currently facing, the AHC Committee has agreed the following steps are needed:

- With the current advice, it is our view that there is little prospect of hockey commencing in the next 8-10 weeks. We have therefore chosen to close registrations and refund any registration fees already collected for the 2020 season. We understand, as a Committee, that these funds will be needed by our members. To those that have registered, you will receive an email in the next 24 hours with the refund process outlined.

- Should the season recommence, we will re-open our registrations at that time with an agreed pro-rata amount. Understandably, we don’t know when or if this will occur for the 2020 season, however, we will continue to communicate through TeamApp and Facebook with any updates Hockey SA provides us.

- We have also spoken to Hockey SA this morning and they have no further update from their announcement last Wednesday. Please note, we requested feedback on the refund of the Hockey SA ($29.69) and Hockey Australia ($31.50) registration fee component and they could not provide any guidance as to whether there would be any refund of this fee. As these funds are paid directly to Hockey Australia on registration, we do not have the ability to refund this component. We will continue to work with Hockey SA for guidance on this and will communicate when we are provided with more clarity on this issue.

- We have also taken steps to mitigate any costs associated with running our club, have negotiated to cease consortium payments until July 2021 and have commenced discussions with Adelaide City Council (alongside Tennis Seniors) regarding potential rent relief.

On behalf of the Committee, I would like to reassure our loyal club members we are taking every step to ensure that we manage our club responsibly through this. Thankfully, due to prudent financial management of our club over the past 5 years, we are in a solid financial position. We will continue to take this approach through these uncertain times to ensure we can continue to be a strong hockey club in the future.

If you have any queries regarding the above, please email them to president@adelaidehockeyclub.com.au

We will continue to regularly update our members as soon as we have further advice from Hockey Australia or Hockey SA.

Regards
Finola Dwyer
President, AHC
